Dear Journal Week 1 Healing

Dear Journal: Goodnight, God.

Tomorrow, we'll keep walking.

A quiet, reflective evening scene for Dear Journal: Goodnight, God

Dear Journal is a weekly reflection series from Purposd — honest, unfiltered moments written from the soul. Not every healing moment feels big. Sometimes it's just a quiet conversation with God before the lights go out.

Dear Journal,

Today I realized...
I've gotten really good at surviving.

I wake up.
Go to work.
Answer the messages.
Handle the responsibilities.
Smile when people ask how I'm doing.
Then I do it all again tomorrow.

Somewhere along the way...
I stopped asking if I was okay.
I only asked if I could make it through another day.

I don't think You created me to live this way, God.
Not constantly rushing.
Not always bracing for the next problem.
Not carrying tomorrow before today is even over.

So tonight...
I'm setting some of it down.
Not because everything is fixed.
But because I finally remember...
I was never supposed to carry what only You can hold.

Teach me what it feels like to rest again.
Not just physically...
But in my mind.
In my heart.
In my soul.

One day at a time.
One surrendered moment at a time.

Thank You for being patient with me while I learn the difference between surviving... and truly living.

Goodnight, God.

Tomorrow, we'll keep walking.

A Moment to Sit With This

This entry is not a how-to. It is not a checklist. It is simply an honest moment — the kind most of us have privately but rarely say out loud.

If something in these words felt familiar, that recognition is worth paying attention to.

Before you close your eyes tonight...

You don't have to answer them all. Choose the one that feels most honest.

  1. When did I last ask myself if I was truly okay — not just functioning?
  2. What have I been carrying that was never mine to hold alone?
  3. What would it look like to set even one thing down tonight?
  4. What do I want to say to God before I sleep?

A prayer for rest

“Lord, thank You for meeting me in ordinary moments — not just the big spiritual ones. Tonight, I'm not asking You to fix everything. I'm asking You to help me rest in the truth that You are still holding what I can't. You haven't forgotten me. You haven't given up. And tomorrow — with Your help — I'll keep walking. Amen.”

One Surrendered Moment

Before you sleep tonight — open your notes app, a journal, or just say it out loud to God:

  1. Name one thing you have been carrying that you are going to set down tonight.
  2. Say or write: "God, I trust You with this."
  3. Then rest. The work continues tomorrow.

Keep walking
